Putnam County opts for lower-cost six-month 9-1-1 maintenance contract with InDigital

Michael White, Putnam County 9-1-1 director, presented two six-month maintenance quotes for the county’s 9-1-1 call-handling equipment, saying the county expects to transition to next-generation 9-1-1 around Oct. 1. White said the Frontier six-month quote was $24,373.84 and that the InDigital quote for the same period was $14,986.26, a difference of $9,387.58.
White said both vendors have existing working relationships with the county and that InDigital has supported the county’s text-to-911 platform since 2014. "If it was my choice, I would certainly choose the low bid," White said, adding that InDigital is a "player in next generation 9-1-1 space" and that Frontier lacks certain core-services capabilities for NG9-1-1.
Commissioners voted to accept the InDigital quote "upon staff review of the documents" and authorized Michael White to sign the necessary paperwork. The motion passed on a unanimous "aye." White and staff noted that the contract covers six months only and that any permanent move to NG9-1-1 would be a separate process after Oct. 1.
The meeting record did not include a signed contract or a detailed service-level comparison beyond the price and the vendors' existing working relationships.
