Polk County adopts resolutions supporting countywide polling and rural EMS funding; drops TPWD opposition

Polk County Commissioners on March 25 approved a package of resolutions concerning state legislative matters.
The court voted to support continued use of the countywide polling place program, which allows voters to cast ballots at any polling location within the county; county staff said the program has improved access for residents, including veterans and elderly voters, since its Polk County implementation in 2021.
The court also approved a resolution urging passage of Senate Bill 1377 and House Bill 3000 to provide additional funding for rural emergency medical services, citing challenges rural EMS providers face in maintaining operations, equipment and staffing.
A separate proposed resolution opposing elimination of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department was removed from consideration after the author withdrew the bill. The court voted to remove that resolution from the packet.
All three actions were approved by voice vote.
