Commission OKs up to $5,000 for consultant work to pursue $5 million IEDC REDI grant

The La Porte Redevelopment Commission approved on March 26 up to $5,000 in additional grant consulting services for Connor Blue Consulting to pursue an opportunity through the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC).
Staff said IEDC instructed the city to modify its existing REDI grant application and submit an additional application path to secure the specific funding. "It's essentially...to secure $5,000,000 of grant funding that's available to us," staff said, and described the extra consultant work as necessary for that submission. The consultant named was Tina Rogers of Connor Blue Consulting.
Commissioners said the additional fee is a modest investment compared with the potential grant amount. JT McDermott moved to approve the added services not to exceed $5,000; Damon Gassaway seconded. The motion passed 5-0.
Staff will continue work with the consultant to prepare and submit the modified application at IEDC's suggestion. No guarantees of award were made during the meeting; staff said the action followed IEDC guidance.
