North Pocono School District awards stadium electrical work and approves Musco lights purchase

At a special meeting, the North Pocono School District Board of Education voted unanimously to award the football stadium field lighting replacement electrical work to Urban Electric and separately approved the purchase and installation of new stadium lights from Musco Sports Lighting LLC.

The board awarded the electrical portion to Urban Electric after finding the existing conduit at the stadium could be used and declaring Urban Electric the lowest responsible bidder for the conduit-using alternative. The resolution read at the meeting says Urban Electric's bid for the project using existing conduit is $105,000 and directs the district solicitor to prepare a written agreement reflecting the terms of the bid award.

The board also approved a separate motion to purchase and install Musco Sports Lighting LLC fixtures at a listed cost of $296,821 (Attachment B on the agenda). A board member clarified during the meeting that both the Urban Electric award and the Musco purchase will be paid from the district's capital project fund rather than the general operating budget.

The competitive bidding process included seven vendor submissions; the bid opening for those submissions was recorded on March 19, 2025. The resolution introduced at the meeting described the bid package as including a base bid (assuming new conduit) and two alternatives that assumed existing conduit could be reused. The district's determination that existing conduit could be reused led to selection of the conduit-using alternative and Urban Electric as the lowest responsible bidder.

All formal votes on the agenda revision, the award to Urban Electric, and the Musco purchase passed by identical 9-0 tallies. The meeting record shows no public comments on the agenda items.

The written agreement with Urban Electric will be prepared by the district solicitor; the meeting record does not specify an installation schedule or completion date for the work.
