The Scottsburg Board of Public Works and Safety approved the purchase of two 2025 Dodge Durango SUVs for the police department, the chief told the board.
The police chief said the department is moving to SUV-type patrol vehicles because the Charger is no longer in production. The chief presented a figure of $411,881.50 during the discussion but did not specify in the meeting whether that number represented the total purchase price for both vehicles or a different total. "That's the vehicle that's being presented to us now. That's what the state police are using. The chargers are no longer in production," the chief said.
The chief also presented outfitting costs. The vendor Light It Up was quoted at $11,272.73 per vehicle to install equipment, the chief said. During discussion someone referenced $53,154.23 but the transcript does not make clear whether that was a per-vehicle total, the combined outfitting cost, or another figure.
Board members confirmed the purchase will be funded from the department's budget; the chief said the purchase would not be paid from asset-forfeiture funds. The board approved the purchase by voice vote.
The board did not record a roll-call tally in the meeting transcript and did not set a delivery or outfitting schedule in the discussion; staff will finalize procurement details outside the meeting record.
