The Lowell Conservation Commission on Wednesday, March 26 continued an enforcement order for 258 Barnum Ave after the property representative said the company has begun cleanup and expects to complete removal of remaining debris by April 9.
The commission’s chairman, Scott McConnors, told the representative the commission would request an agent inspection and, if the agent’s report is satisfactory, the enforcement order would be rescinded at the next meeting. The representative said he acquired the property in July 2024, removed what he described as 11 dumpsters and 16 mattresses, and had cleaned much of the yard and interior.
“My company will do whatever it takes necessary to get the property compliant,” the property representative said, adding crews would return to clear remaining debris now that snow has melted and that he would have staff on site the week before the April 9 meeting.
Commissioners voted to continue the matter to the April 9 meeting and asked staff to arrange an agent site review shortly before that date. If the agent reports the site as compliant, the commission said it would recommend rescinding the enforcement order at its next meeting.
The representative said his attorney would coordinate with the conservation agent to receive a specific list of outstanding items. The commission did not set additional penalties at the March 26 hearing.
