Fond du Lac Education Association endorses April 1 referendum, plans community outreach March 5

A representative of the Fond du Lac Education Association (FEA) told the board on Feb. 24 that the union formally supports the Fond du Lac School District referendum set for the April 1 ballot and will hold a community outreach event March 5.
At the podium Miss Tompkins, who identified herself as an art teacher at the high school and the teacher PR representative for the Fond du Lac Education Association, said the FEA voted in January to endorse the referendum after members discussed potential impacts on student achievement. She told the board members the association is concerned about the consequences of a failed referendum and said members remain "committed to advocating for measures that prioritize student success and provide staff with the necessary resources needed to do our job."
Miss Tompkins also said the FEA will host an outreach event at the Hive on March 5 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. to share information and hear community questions and concerns.
Board response Board members thanked the FEA for the public support and several offered to participate in community forums and answer questions from residents about finances and the referendum’s details. No board action or vote was taken on the endorsement; it was delivered as public comment.
Why it matters A public endorsement by a teachers’ association is a prominent show of support in the weeks before the district referendum. The association’s outreach event is intended to inform and solicit questions from community members ahead of the April 1 vote.
