Opa-locka adopts Complete Streets and Safe Streets plans and approves capital lease for new street sweeper

The Opa-locka City Commission on March 26 passed first readings and votes on several items intended to improve transportation safety and street maintenance: a Complete Streets policy, a Safe Streets for All comprehensive safety action plan, and a three-year capital lease to finance a new street sweeper.
City staff presented the Complete Streets policy as a commitment to design, build and maintain roadways that safely accommodate pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users and drivers. Adelina Gross, CIP division manager, said new and replacement sidewalks would be built to a five-foot minimum with ADA ramps and that the policy is intended to make the city eligible for federal and state funding for multimodal projects.
