The Bulloch County Planning and Zoning Commission on March 18 approved a variance to allow an accessory structure — described as a pool house — at a property in a planned subdivision on Evergreen Drive.
Planning staff described the property as R-25 within a planned subdivision near Forest Heights Country Club and said the accessory-structure standard in Appendix C, Article 14, prohibits accessory buildings in the front yard. The applicant, Jake Hudson, told the commission the pool had been damaged by a recent storm and the proposed pool house would be rebuilt to match the house in color, roof and siding. Mr. Pope, planning staff, recommended approval and explained the lot layout and that the proposal resulted from the property’s corner/dead-end configuration.
The commission voted to approve the variance after a motion and second; Commissioner Trimble seconded the motion. The applicant said the new pool house will match the principal residence and that the family is proceeding through required permits.
What happens next The variance approval allows the applicant to proceed with the building permit process and any required site inspections consistent with county permitting and subdivision rules.
