Economic Development Director Chelsea Kollor told the Richmond Heights City Council on March 25 that the contract for a new pavilion at Greenwood Farm has been approved, the pre‑work meeting has been held, and construction is expected to begin "any day." She said the city may be able to see active construction from Richmond Road soon.
Kollor also reported that plans are in place to abate hazardous materials in the Greenwood Farm barn "very shortly," and she invited questions from council on those items.
Mayor Kim Thomas earlier in the meeting said the president of the Cleveland Film Festival commission had recommended a company to shoot at Greenwood Farm; the mayor said the proposed shoot would likely last "probably 25 to 30 days" and that staff will "keep you in the loop."
The pavilion contract and the abatement work were described by staff as proceeding under standard procurement and construction steps; the council did not debate the items at length during the meeting. No contract dollar amounts or detailed schedules were provided on the public record during the March 25 session.
The city also mentioned an upcoming sign upgrade at a community park and that electrical hookup for the marquee was expected to be completed in two to three weeks.
Construction start and the timing of the film shoot will be subject to standard permitting and contractor scheduling; staff said they would update council as work begins.
