The Town of Templeton Select Board approved the sale of the former Baldwinville Elementary School at Wednesday’s meeting and authorized town officials to sign closing documents.
Town counsel presented a draft quitclaim deed and a title-company requested affidavit and recommended the board sign the documents to complete a closing the attorney said is expected on April 1. Counsel requested authorization for the town to execute any further instruments necessary to effectuate closing.
After brief discussion, the board voted to approve the sale, to sign all related documents and to authorize town counsel to execute any additional instruments necessary to complete the transfer. The motion passed 5–0.
Town staff will circulate the closing documents for signatures and the deed will be recorded following the closing. The sale follows a town meeting vote authorizing the 2020 sale terms and a 2024 amendment referenced by counsel during tonight’s presentation.
Town counsel said she reviewed the title-company affidavit and found it to be a standard closing document. The board directed staff to circulate the materials and confirm final signatures.
