Coppell council approves consent agenda including $2.5 million panel replacement

Coppell — The Coppell City Council approved its consent agenda (items A through F) during the March 25 regular session, adopting routine items previously reviewed by staff.

Councilmember Jim Walker moved to approve the consent agenda and Councilmember Brianna Hinojosa Smith seconded the motion. After a brief discussion focused on one consent item, the council voted in favor and the motion passed.

During discussion, Councilmember Prem Kumar flagged item E on the consent list, describing it as a $2,500,000 panel replacement. “After talking to the city staff I learned that this is what the lowest bid that we got. It is definitely much lower than any other bids that the city got and it is with the vendor that has served the city in the past,” Prem Kumar said. He also noted staff maintains a prioritized list for future panel work and encouraged residents to report roads in need of repair so the items can be scheduled.

Vote: The council recorded its roll call as: Walker, Hina, Hudson Smith, Carol, Nevills, Prem Kumar, Matthew Hill — all in favor; none opposed. The mayor declared the motion carried.
