The Garrett County Board of Commissioners approved a batch of road-name additions and changes under resolution RN 205-1.
Sierra of the county GIS division presented multiple new road names tied primarily to recent subdivision activity: Azalea Lane and Magnolia Way (off Sky Valley Road for the Pullen Run subdivision); a road off Place Lane from Gulf Drive; Nature Run off Mountain Road; Govee Bend off Blue Ribbon Road in Pleasant Valley near Route 50 (staff said two existing address points might change there); and Moonbridge (triggered by a new building permit off Green Lantern Road).
Staff also proposed renaming a confusing cross-street configuration in the town of Accident by consolidating North North Street and Flat Street into Polk Street and extending Polk Street to serve a forthcoming subdivision. Staff said the town had been contacted and was on board with the change; affected property owners on Bovee Bend and Moonbridge had been notified where addresses would change. Commissioners asked whether residents had been informed; staff replied they had been in touch with affected addresses.
The board moved to adopt the road-name changes as proposed in resolution RN 205-1; the motion was seconded and carried.
Ending: GIS staff will finalize updates to the county road index and collect signatures on the resolution.
