“I've been out there since about November of last year, and just wanted to kind of stop by, introduce myself, invite you guys to come out and see the facility and kind of see what we do,” Wood said. She told the board deputies had been helpful with individuals in crisis, assisting with de-escalation.
Wood said staff are working to make the facility more “home-like and less facility-like,” and she raised the need for bathroom improvements. The board responded that county staff (including maintenance personnel) would coordinate with the facility to assess repairs; earlier in the meeting the supervisors approved a contract with Tri State Automatic Sprinkler for $6,350 for repairs at Andrew Jackson Care.
Wood said facility staff plan to attend board meetings occasionally to provide updates. Supervisors thanked Wood for the update and said they would coordinate with maintenance and public-safety staff to address the repair and accessibility requests.
