Public Works committee approves minutes and a Radisson MOU, enters closed session on lease negotiations

A motion to approve the Feb. 12 minutes was made by Mark Hellwig and seconded by Jim Evans; the chair called for any discussion and then called for the vote, after which the motion carried. The transcript records the motion and that the motion carried; no further tally was recorded on the public record.
The committee then considered a renewal MOU with the Town of Radisson, which replaces an agreement that expired earlier in the year. The committee described the road as primarily serving the county communications tower and said the arrangement transfers maintenance to the county while the town pays its general transportation aid in exchange. The motion to approve the MOU was made by Mark Hellwig and seconded by Jim Evans. “Motion carries,” the chair said; the item will be forwarded to the full County Board and the town had already approved the agreement.
Later the committee voted to go into closed session under Wis. Stat. § 19.85 to consider negotiation strategy and possible lease extension terms for county properties at 10250 N Tower Road, Hayward, and 10424 W State Road 2770, Radisson. The motion to enter closed session was moved and seconded; in a roll call the transcript records “Ron Kinsley? Yes. Mark Hellwig? Yes. … Chuck Van Etten? Yes. Jim Emmons? Yes.” The committee returned to open session and the chair said there was no action to report from the closed session.
All formal motions heard at the meeting were forwarded for the county board as required; no additional formal actions were taken by the Public Works Committee at the March 18 meeting.
