Runway reconstruction contracts signed; county to buy new snow-removal equipment

Officials also said the county is purchasing a package of snow-removal equipment — a new loader, snowblower and snowplow — totaling nearly $500,000. The county’s required local match was described as approximately $9,000 to $12,000 because much of the acquisition does not require matching funds under the grant program in use.
County staff said the timing is favorable because spring conditions improve the chance to complete the runway project before the busier summer season. The airport master plan and related airport layout plan updates are still in progress and are not expected to return to the board until mid-summer or fall.
Committee members asked staff to monitor scheduling and potential impacts on operations; staff said some aircraft may relocate temporarily to nearby airports during construction.
