Resident tells Rock County Board spam filter blocked mass email invitations to officials

During the citizen-participation portion of the meeting, Susan Adams told the Rock County Board that organizers of a Feb. 8 event, “State of Democracy in America,” had been unable to deliver invitation emails to county addresses because of the county’s spam filter.
Adams said the event’s convener, Betty Carr, had been locked out from sending messages to Rock County email addresses. “We discovered that your robust spam filter won't let us email everybody at once,” Adams said, and she asked the county to review its email settings so elected officials and candidates can receive invitations efficiently.
Adams said the organizers routinely invite local elected officials and candidates and that the current email-delivery problem required staff and volunteers to send multiple individual messages. She suggested the county adopt a system similar to neighboring Clinton or Beloit that allows sending notices to multiple addresses at once.
The transcript records no formal staff response during the citizen comment period; Clerk Tolleson was mentioned as attempting to assist but unable to send a message to all supervisors within the mayoral/county email settings on that occasion.
