Sawyer County zoning committee approves Korman rezone in Town of Media

The Sawyer County zoning committee on March 21 approved a rezone request that will change roughly 76.29 acres in the Town of Media from Forestry-1 to Agricultural-1 to allow pasture for beef cattle.
The applicant, Matthew Korman of 1950 North County Road C, Exel, told the committee he bought the logged parcels a year ago and wants to pasture beef cattle on them. “I bought this land a year ago, and it was logged when I bought it, and I wanna use it to pasture my beef cattle,” Korman said.
Jake (zoning staff) described the property as two contiguous parcels that are immediately north of existing agricultural use by the same owner and said the Town of Media recommended approval. DJ Adderman of Futurewood Corp spoke in favor during the public hearing. No members of the public spoke in opposition.
After closing the public hearing, the committee voted to approve Rezone No. 25‑004 with staff findings. The roll call recorded votes in favor from Ron Buchholz, Dale Magnuson, Kaye Wilson, Tweed Schumann and Steve Cariannon; the motion carried.
The rezone changes the official zoning designation from Forestry‑1 to Agricultural‑1 on the subject tax parcels (tax ID 39968/39967). Zoning staff noted the parcels are adjacent to existing agricultural land and described the request as a continuation of established pasture use by the same owner.
The committee moved on to other agenda items following the vote.
