County Veterans Affairs staff notified the board the county will participate in a seniors reentry employment program and will hire a fourth participant through that program at no cost to the county.
The Veterans Affairs service officer said the program (described in the meeting as a seniors reentry-to-work program) had been used three times before in the county and was temporarily suspended during COVID. The program places a person over age 55 who is reentering the workforce; the county’s planned placement would perform front‑desk duties and telephone coverage only and would not have access to county files or computers.
The service officer said roughly three candidates are under consideration and that the county’s attorney, Waddell, has reviewed and approved the contract. Supervisors asked for the program’s name and history; staff said the county first used the program in 2015 and that prior placements were successful.
No cost to the county was reported; staff asked supervisors whether there were questions and said they would proceed with placement under the approved contract.
