The Executive & Finance Committee approved forwarding the 2025 educator contract with UW Extension and a companion memorandum of understanding (MOU) to the full county board.
Steve Carroll, committee chair for the item, and Jeremy Solon, assistant dean for UW Extension in Southern Wisconsin, described the MOU as a document developed through the Wisconsin Counties Association to clarify service expectations, accountability and some employment-related details that historically have been informal. Solon said the MOU provides additional specificity about services, an annual listening session and procedures related to filling vacant positions; he said those practices will be followed whether or not the MOU is executed, and that UW Extension supports the county's option to adopt the MOU.
Committee members agreed the contract is consistent with past years and that the MOU provides helpful clarity. The committee voted to forward both documents to the full county board for approval.
