UW–Stevens Point Wausau campus reports steady spring enrollment and stronger fall recruitment

A representative from UW–Stevens Point’s Wausau campus provided a brief enrollment update to the committee on March 6, saying spring numbers were roughly in line with expectations and fall 2025 recruitment is showing improvement.
Miranda (UW–Stevens Point) said spring headcount was “right around” the expected figure and that the university typically sees a drop from fall to spring as many students enroll for three semesters then transfer or attend elsewhere. “We are doing really well with recruitment for fall 2025,” she said, adding that applications and confirmed admits were both up and that staff are working to convert admitted students.
Miranda outlined recent admitted-student events and noted that on-campus partners are helping with student services: FAFSA assistance, advising appointments and family outreach. She also described a new campus partnership: HOLA (Healthy Opportunities for Latin Americans) is working with the Hmong and Hispanic Communication Network Project and has an office on the Wausau campus for events and client meetings.
Supervisor Lemmer asked about K–12 outreach and dedicated recruiters; Miranda said eighth graders from local schools continue to visit the Wausau campus, and that the campus’s recruiting structure includes a primary recruiter with a Wausau assignment and a nontraditional-student recruiter for Wausau and Marshfield.
