One member said much outreach has occurred via smaller, private conversations with people experiencing homelessness and that those conversations yielded consistent requests for respect, accountability, and pathways to housing.
Craig, who described the local presentation plans for the companion documentary Americans With No Address, said the film will screen at the Grand Theater on Tuesday, March 25 as part of the theater’s community engagement series. Craig said the screening was scheduled to follow county and Wausau meetings to make it convenient for officials and that local agencies had been invited to host tables afterward to connect audience members to services.
Task force members also discussed a final report and a draft PowerPoint that organizers plan to present to the county board and city council. The draft will be circulated to members for feedback ahead of a planned educational presentation to the county board; the task force charter was noted as extended through April 1, and members discussed scheduling an April presentation to fit both bodies’ calendars.
On process, one council member said the county emphasized accountability measures as part of being comfortable as a funding partner; those measures also echoed many of the concerns raised in conversations with people experiencing homelessness. Members agreed to coordinate presentations to the county board and city council so the final report's educational presentation occurs in close proximity for efficiency.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn from Supervisor Connolly, seconded by Ms. Tilka; the group voted in favor and adjourned.
