Hamilton County veterans leaders mark end of 10-year Vietnam commemoration, dedicate Medal of Honor recognition for Larry Taylor

Linda Moss Mines, co-chair of the county's Vietnam commemoration committee, said the committee has commemorated Vietnam Veteran Day yearly, recognized prisoners of war, and supported the Medal of Honor Heritage Center. "This Sunday will be the last day that General Raines and I will serve that 10 year commission," Mines said.
Major General Bill Raines (U.S. Army, retired) described a ceremony planned at the Medal of Honor Heritage Center to include a one-to-one scale display in recognition of Larry Taylor and brick dedications. "This Saturday, we're gonna put inside that facility a true 1 to 1 scale ... in recognition of Larry Taylor," Raines said, and invited the public to attend the 1 p.m. ceremony and brick dedication.
Mines and Raines also thanked the commission for support of the Medal of Honor Heritage Center and noted the county's recent approval to move the Hamilton County Veterans Memorial Park to the North Shore. Commissioners and attendees paid tribute to other local veterans and mourned the recent passing of veteran leader Brig. Gen. Carl Levi.
