Rivera said he had spoken with a state representative’s staff who offered to convene a presentation for interested local officials. Commissioners discussed hydrogen’s possible roles—heavy industry, shipping or specialty applications—and emphasized that hydrogen’s climate benefits depend on production methods (e.g., "green" hydrogen made with renewable electricity versus fossil-derived hydrogen). Rivera said the commission will look for partners and possible forum opportunities to present technical findings to the county or commission when organized.
No formal action was taken; commissioners encouraged Rivera to continue research and to bring a structured presentation in a future meeting.
