Supervisor Grady outlines Kenosha County Public Works projects, parks and golf course improvements

Supervisor Grady provided a status update on several Public Works, parks and facilities projects during the Kenosha County Board meeting.

Grady noted a new storage building planned at Brightendale and a new restroom facility completed at Petrifying Springs. He said seasonal postings for golf course staff are open to fill positions that maintain courses, sell concessions and clean carts. The county has hired additional patrol workers to bolster its road repair crews and has installed radar speed signs on County JB, he said.

In parks and facilities work, Grady said exterior restorations are underway at Kemper Center and that RFPs are being prepared for upgrades to the Kemper chapel, which the county identified as one of the facility’s primary income-generating spaces. He reported that roof repairs at Pringle Nature Center are complete and that the long-running replacement of the Simmons gymnasium door at Kemper Center has been resolved in that the door has been obtained but not yet installed. Grady also told the board the county expects a planned outage on June 16 to permit work on a 25 kilovolt transmission line affecting Bradford, Willowbrook and Brookside; the item will require a multi-hour power shutdown for work to proceed.

Grady characterized many of the items as routine maintenance and upgrades. He invited residents to apply for seasonal golf positions and flagged the Mid-State Interstate Trail reclamation effort in the Wilmot area as an ongoing project that will receive further updates.
