Jefferson County supervisors confirmed three appointments during the meeting: Joan Fitzgerald to the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), John Fox as director of facilities management, and Mary Jo Shackleford to the Nutrition Project Council.
The chair asked the board to confirm Joan Fitzgerald’s appointment to the LEPC; Supervisor Degner moved confirmation and Supervisor Morris seconded; the board confirmed her by voice vote.
County administration introduced John Fox as the selected candidate for director of facilities management following the December departure of the prior director. John Fox spoke to supervisors about his background, saying he is “a UW Stokes graduate with the construction management bachelor of science degree” and described roughly 20 years of facility planning and management experience, most recently supporting capital planning and facility functions in the Madison area. By virtue of Section 59.182(b) of the Wisconsin statutes (cited by the chair), the board considered and confirmed John Fox’s appointment; Supervisor Brago moved confirmation, Supervisor Jayco seconded, and the board confirmed by voice vote. Fox told the board he expects to start on Monday and said he looks forward to supporting county staff and capital projects.
The Human Services Board requested confirmation of Mary Jo Shackleford to the Nutrition Project Council for a term ending Nov. 13, 2027. Supervisor Jones moved confirmation; Supervisor Lund seconded. The board confirmed the appointment by voice vote.
