Dunn County communications announces electronics recycling day, weekly county email and 'How Dunn Works' series

Chris (Dunn County communications staff) updated the committee on communications projects including an electronics recycling collection day, a short weekly email to county board and staff and an informational series titled How Dunn Works.

Chris said the county will host an electronics recycling event at the Dunn County Fairgrounds in May; major electronics manufacturers support such events to meet corporate recycling targets and will accept a broad range of items at no cost, the county noted. The county press release listing accepted items was distributed to committee members.

He described a weekly digest email to county board members and staff that began earlier this year to improve internal awareness of county activities; he said recipients have provided positive feedback. Chris also outlined a How Dunn Works segment planned to profile Tammy Traxler and the county comprehensive planning process to encourage survey completion.

Chris said the county contracts communications help from Doug Veil, who produces news releases and other materials and bills only for time worked up to an approved cap (the county has authorized up to $1,000 per month but Veil invoices only for hours actually used).

At the start of the meeting the committee approved the minutes from the prior meeting. Supervisor Berndt moved to approve the minutes; Supervisor Barrier seconded and the chair said the motion carried. No formal roll‑call vote tally was recorded in the transcript.

Chris closed by reminding members about the next committee meeting on Tuesday, April 15, and noting the committee will return to a different room after tax season.
