Mary, representing the Chamber of Commerce, reported that Ashland County received a joint marketing grant from the state tourism department to update branding and produce a new visitor and activity guide covering the county from Madeline Island to Butternut.
The grant will fund market research and rebranding work to identify target customers and geographic markets for county promotion, Mary said. Staff and stakeholders aim to understand why visitors come to Ashland County and which attractions drive traffic, citing Copper Falls, Morgan Falls and Madeline Island as key draws.
Mary said the visitor/ activity guide will be printed and available in January and that advertising and analytics are being reviewed so limited promotional dollars are used where they have the greatest return.
Quote: “We were awarded a joint effort marketing grant from the Department of Tourism. And what it basically, this grant is to help us with rebranding Ashland County in terms of tourism, and maybe coming up with a new logo for tourism,” Mary said.
Ending: The Chamber will continue coordinating with county stakeholders and the DNR on outdoor‑recreation and event promotion and will update the committee as the guide and branding materials are finalized.
