Morris City swears in council members and elects Zachary Grails mayor pro tem

Morris City held the oath-of-office for newly seated council members and elected a mayor pro tem during its meeting. Abigail was sworn in as a junior council member, Kim Gullickson took her seat after re-election, and Zachary Grails took the oath as a council member.
The oaths were administered as a group. During his oath, Zachary Grails repeated: "I will support the constitution of The United States and of the state of Minnesota ... and will discharge faithfully the duties devolving upon me as council member to the best of my judgment and ability." Following the swearing, officials completed the required signatures and paperwork.
After the oath of office, the council moved to elect a mayor pro tem. Zachary Grails was nominated and seconded; the council approved the nomination by voice vote and the mayor declared the motion carried. The mayor pro tem serves in the mayor’s absence and takes on presiding duties when delegated.
The council noted the mayor will be absent at a meeting later in the month, at which point the newly elected mayor pro tem will preside.
