The Dental Commission voted unanimously to accept several technical edits to the memorandum of decision in the disciplinary proceeding involving Dennis Flanagan, and officials said the changes do not alter the decision’s outcome.
Commission members approved replacing the phrase “mini implants” with “small 3.2 millimeter diameter implant,” adding a clarifying sentence that “there was no evidence of a violation of the Apex and no evidence of the Apex being cut off,” updating a page reference from "12-17" to "12-18," and correcting the spelling of Flanagan’s name. Member Craig moved to adopt the edits; Member Sarita seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
The commission’s chair said the Department of Public Health had no objection to the edits. “The department has no objection,” a department representative said during the meeting, according to the transcript.
The chair also announced two new dental commissioners who are expected to join later this month: Ross Sanfilippo and Leslie Bumpus. The chair said those appointees have completed background checks and that the commission still needs to fill one public member seat.
Commissioners and staff noted the changes were technical and would not change the memorandum’s substantive outcome. After the vote the chair said she would sign the signature page and asked staff member Betty to add the signature and finalize the document for distribution.
The commission adjourned after completing the item and a brief call for good and welfare; no other substantive items were discussed on the record during the segment provided.
