School committee signs off on annual report for 2025 town warrant with edits

Staff said the report highlights strategic-plan accomplishments (including the portrait of a learner), continued work on MTSS, the opening of the new Foster School and community partnerships such as the Hingham Education Foundation and the Hingham Sports Partnership. The report also summarizes the proposed FY26 budget and referenced rising costs in utilities, salaries and special-education services.
During discussion members proposed edits that the committee approved: add a note that contract negotiations with HEA units were settled (to be added underbudget accomplishments), spell out the CPAC acronym, and insert the phrase "legally required" in front of references to special-education costs. Members also asked for an alphabetized ordering of names at the end of the report for clarity. Staff agreed to make the edits and resubmit the final file for inclusion in the warrant.
A motion to approve the report for inclusion in the 2025 Town Warrant — with the agreed edits — was made and approved by voice vote.
Staff said they will incorporate the edits and distribute the updated report to the Town for the warrant publication schedule.
