Sebastian approves CRA annual report and greenlights multiple waterfront and infrastructure grants and contracts

The City Council approved the Riverfront Community Redevelopment Agency annual report and adopted multiple resolutions and purchase orders to pursue grant funding and sign contracts for waterfront improvements and city infrastructure.
Miss Bernard presented the annual Riverfront CRA report, saying it is required by Florida statute and must be sent to the county by March 31. “This is the annual report that has to be sent to the county by March 31 of every year,” she told the council. The council approved the report by roll call.
The council then approved resolutions to seek Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) funding for a proposed Swing and Bench Park project and to seek dredging funding for the Main Street boat ramp, with the CRA identified as a potential local match. The body voted in favor of both FIND resolutions after staff described alignment with the CRA redevelopment master plan and waterfront infrastructure goals.
Councilors also approved an application under the Florida Boating Improvement Program for dredging and related Main Street boat ramp improvements and authorized required matching funds. Council members and staff said the city is bundling multiple grant opportunities to reduce the local match.
On capital purchases, the council authorized a purchase order for asphalt paving systems not to exceed $1,477,223.45 for Phase 3 road repaving, which staff said will complete preservation work including Barber Street. The motion passed by roll call.
The council approved a purchase order for Motorola Solutions Inc. in the amount of $92,238 to improve public‑safety communications at City Hall and the adjacent parking area; staff said additional campus locations could be funded later. The council noted a scrivener’s error in the resolution title before voting to approve the contract.
Other items approved included consent agenda items and a council‑approved waiver of rental fees and road closure for youth events such as a tennis tournament and an I9 Sports League feeder program.
