College Place studies Martin Airfield infrastructure under public–private partnership

College Place is conducting a study of Martin Airfield to determine what infrastructure would be needed to support additional development while retaining airport operations, City Administrator Mike Rizztello said.
Rizztello described the Martin Airfield work as a public–private partnership involving a private partner named Terragon and the airfield. The study will evaluate what infrastructure — for example, utilities or road improvements — would need extension to support proposed activities. Rizztello said the work will inform whether, and how, the airport area can support additional development consistent with the city’s urban growth area and planning policies.
He said the airfield planning effort is supported by a state grant and noted the study will move through the economic development commission and the City Council in the late spring, with development interest likely to arrive after the study provides infrastructure clarity.
