Council briefed on map correction to fix six parcels misidentified as public use

At the March 24 study session, Planning Services Manager Alexandra Teague presented Ordinance No. 69-76, a technical amendment to the comprehensive zoning map that corrects a mapping error affecting six privately owned parcels that were mistakenly shown in the public-use (P1) district.
The correction matters for property owners and for consistent application of zoning rules: the six parcels are residential and the map error would have applied an incorrect public-use designation unless corrected.
Teague said the error arose during the 2024 periodic comprehensive-plan and zoning-map update, when several land-use designations and zone consolidations were applied. She told the council she had contacted each affected property owner—six parcels owned by four different owners—to explain the mistake and the remedy. The ordinance would amend the map to place the parcels in the Residential Neighborhood Mixed-Use (R and M) designation.
"I have spoken with each of the property owners. There's 6 parcels, 4 different property owners. I have spoken with each of them, told them, the situation and told them the the fix the remedy," Teague said.
No formal vote was recorded at the study session; staff presented the map amendment for council consideration and discussion.
