Committee approves $24,382.75 to bring initial fiber data services to site

The Revere School Building Committee approved a ComTrap Corporation proposal, dated Feb. 28, 2025, to provide initial fiber data services to the Wonderland site for $24,382.75.
The project team said the fiber will bring the city's redundant municipal fiber network to the construction trailer area so construction management and contractors have reliable internet and data services. City and project staff described the municipal network as a double-loop redundant system that serves municipal buildings and schools; the team said there is existing capacity on the Beachmont School loop and that the project will use a spare pair to serve construction trailers initially and later pull additional pairs into the finished school.
Because the vendor contract will be with the city rather than routed through a consultant, staff said no budget revision request or consultant contract amendment is required. The costs will be charged to the project's utility company fees line, which currently carries funds for service connections and similar utility work.
The motion passed by roll call.
