The School Building Committee approved a Perkins Eastman contract amendment and a Budget Revision Request (BRR) to fund Sanborn Head for geotechnical and geo-environmental services related to soil testing, reporting and on-site monitoring.
The motion authorized a contract amendment and BRR totaling $121,990 to cover LSP (licensed site professional) services. The project team said Sanborn Head is an independent LSP firm familiar with the site and will provide pre-characterization surveys, sampling plans, DEP submittals and on-site monitoring to ensure subcontractors follow environmental specifications when moving soil on and off site.
Project staff explained these services were not assigned an exact dollar value in earlier contracts because the need and duration of on-site monitoring depends on the actual quantity of soil handled and any contamination encountered. The money will come from the project's owner soft contingency and requires a formal BRR to move funds into Perkins Eastman's geotechnical/geoenvironmental line and to amend the consultant contract.
The motion passed by roll call. Committee members noted that independent on-site monitoring is standard practice and that the timing and exact scope of monitoring will depend on construction schedule and site conditions.
