Committee approves proprietary security specifications for Revere High School

The Revere High School Building Committee voted to approve proprietary specifications for several security system components needed to integrate the new school with city and school emergency and IT systems.
The motion named specific manufacturers for the access control, video management, intrusion detection, video intercom and video management camera systems. The list approved by the committee was: LenelS2 OnGuard for access control; Genetec Omnicast for video management; Honeywell for intrusion detection; Aiphone 9-series for video intercoms; and Access Communications for video management cameras. The committee made the change to allow specified manufacturers so the new systems integrate with the city and school networks and with first responder interfaces.
Jonathan Ferrara, identified during the meeting as the official who oversees the city's IT department, worked with the project team on the selections and is “on board with this motion,” a committee member said during the discussion. Committee members raised two minor typos in the agenda language (one listing read "instruction detection" instead of "intrusion detection"); staff corrected that in the meeting record.
The vote was taken by roll call and passed with affirmative votes from committee members present.
