Revere High School hits 60% design; draft NEPA report and demolition bids expected next month

The Revere High School project team told the School Building Committee on March 10 that construction documents are roughly 60% complete and that a draft National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental document is expected within two weeks.
The update outlined work now moving from broad design into more detailed mechanical, utilities and landscaping planning. Brian (staff member) said the team has begun more detailed mechanical and utility cost projections and that bids for Phase 1 demolition — foundations and the old track — will be returned in the coming days and are likely to be on the April agenda for award.
Why it matters: the NEPA milestone and demolition contract awards will allow the project to move into on-site work. Committee members asked about possible cost impacts from national tariffs; the project team said they have built a contingency of 0.5% on direct construction costs to cover tariff uncertainty, which the team estimated at roughly $1.5 million in the current estimate. The team said that contingency will be refined as bids arrive.
The presentation also previewed forthcoming agenda items: bid results for site demolition, a fuller NEPA update summarizing comments, and additional design details for landscaping and mechanical systems. Brian said the project continues through permitting and that more granular schedule and budget details will come as bids are received and subcontracts are negotiated.
Committee members flagged next steps on landscaping: a follow-up meeting on April 10 with Dan Cawley and Carl Fenton was scheduled to refine planting and site plans. The project team said they will return to the committee in April with bid results and a NEPA update.
