HUNTSVILLE — Huntsville Independent School District on a recent school day staged Shattered Dreams, a large-scale distracted-driving reenactment for juniors and seniors at Huntsville High School’s Performing Arts Center and adjacent band hall parking lot.
The program brought students, Huntsville ISD counselors, law enforcement, emergency medical services, hospital staff, the Walker County Justice of the Peace and the family of a distracted-driving victim together in a staged crash, a live 911 audio playback, and subsequent classroom activities designed to dramatize the consequences of distracted driving.
Shattered Dreams organizers said the seniors and juniors attended on consecutive days and gathered at the PAC for an overview before moving to a staged vehicle crash in the band hall lot. As…
