Commission approves $2.2 million for Daniel Boone High School HVAC replacement

Director of Schools (presenting staff) explained the project as a replacement for an aging exterior geothermal heat-exchange system that is failing; the county’s previous internal HVAC upgrades at high schools used ESSER dollars for internal systems, but this request covers external equipment conversion to a standard boiler and chiller installed outside the building.
Commissioner Carter presented the Health, Education and Welfare committee’s recommendation. The commission approved the resolution on a recorded vote of 11 yes, 4 absent.
County staff and the director said the project replaces failing infrastructure and would be designed to current efficiency standards; further project details and contract documents will be presented to the commission as procurement proceeds.
