Commission approves two rezones: commercial slice for parking and A-1 zoning for seven-acre Telford tract

The Washington County Board of County Commissioners approved two rezoning requests during the March 2025 public hearing, both receiving recorded votes of 11 yes, 4 absent.
Resolution 25-03-01 rezoned a small parcel on the county tax map (12I in the 12th Civil District), publicly described as being requested by property owners Susan Masters and Bruce Rosenheim, to combine the slice into adjacent commercially zoned property. Bruce Rosenheim told the commission he wanted the parcel rezoned to provide increased parking for two planned buildings—a medical clinic and a restaurant—on a site abutting Old Grama Station Road. He described it as “a small slice” that would allow sufficient parking for the proposed buildings.
Resolution 25-03-02 rezoned a tract identified on tax map 07/04 in the Third District, owned by April Collins and Sherry Dale White, from R-1 to A-1. Sherry Dale White said the property is a little over seven acres and that under R-1 zoning only one dwelling could be built; rezoning to A-1 would allow a second single-family dwelling so that the owner and a prospective buyer could each build a home.
Planning staff reported that the Planning Commission reviewed both requests at its March meeting and recommended approval unanimously. No speakers registered opposition during the public hearing.
Both resolutions passed on the commission floor after motions and recorded votes were taken.
