DuPage County’s Strategic Planning Committee on March 20, 2025, approved minutes from a prior meeting and outlined a series of department-level briefings to track progress on the county’s strategic plan, which the chair said was incorporated into the FY2025 budget.
Chair Heather, opening the meeting at 11:30 a.m., moved to approve the minutes of “25-0777, strategic planning committee, regular meeting, Tuesday, May 20, 2024,” and the committee recorded an affirmative vote. "All in favor?" the chair asked; a member responded, "Aye," and the chair said, "Motion carries." The motion’s mover and seconder were not specified on the record.
The committee’s review schedule groups the plan’s six priority areas into three briefing sessions: community well-being and public safety in June; fiscal responsibility and a thriving local economy on Sept. 9; and environmental stewardship paired with mobility in October. "What's important to me is that we work together ... that we are hitting our marks, we are on target in terms of following those goals that are set in the strategic plan," Chair Heather said during the presentation.
Committee members heard that the county’s strategic plan earned a National Association of Counties (NACo) award and that staff incorporated the plan into the FY2025 budget. The chair said the plan’s priorities were organized into six categories: community well-being, fiscal responsibility, a thriving economy, public safety, environmental stewardship and mobility. The presentation noted that DuPage County includes more than 26,000 acres of natural spaces.
Committee members and staff will invite department heads and senior staff to the scheduled meetings to provide quantitative and qualitative status updates. "I did bring extra copies of the strategic plan for 2024," staff member Kate said during the meeting, offering printed copies to committee members. Another committee member who spoke praised the planning process as thorough and noted consultants and public meetings were part of the development process.
No public comments were recorded during the meeting. The committee confirmed a quorum at the start; one member, Member Krogewski, was noted as absent. The chair closed the meeting after a brief question-and-answer period and discussion of scheduling.
