Edgewood ISD board approves personnel renewals, SB 1882 addendums and out-of-city travel

The board approved the consent agenda (items 5A–5I) on a motion by Trustee Valdez and a second from Trustee Rudy Lopez. The motion carried with all present voting aye.
The board then approved renewal of personnel contracts for the 2025–26 school year. A motion to renew personnel contracts was moved in open session, and the board voted in favor; the motion was seconded and passed with all present voting aye.
Trustees approved addendums to the SB 1882 operating agreement affecting the Royceus Nettles Leadership School for Boys and the Espadas Leadership School for Girls. Trustee Espinosa moved the addendums and Trustee Gomez seconded; the motion passed on a voice vote.
The board also approved trustee travel to the Texas Association of School Boards Summer Leadership Institute in Fort Worth, scheduled June 18–21, 2025. Trustee Espinosa moved the travel authorization and Trustee Gomez seconded; the motion passed. Superintendent Dr. Hernandez thanked trustees for their participation in governance training and noted the board’s authority to approve out-of-state student travel when applicable.
The meeting concluded after the board recessed to closed session and then reconvened to adopt the personnel renewals and the SB 1882 addendums. A final motion to adjourn, moved by Trustee Gomez and seconded by Trustee Valdez, carried and the meeting was adjourned.
