Utah County Commission approves Alpine School District maps, draws initial board terms by lot

The Utah County Commission on March 26 approved the final maps and administrative steps to divide the Alpine School District into three new voting districts and set initial school board term lengths by lot.

Commissioners discussed a two-week public survey and answered common questions about the boundaries, elections and whether students would need to change schools. Rich Pyatt, Utah County communications manager, said the county received 4,516 responses and published answers to frequently asked questions online. "We got 4,516 responses from the from our question," Pyatt said. Pyatt also said, "They’re not going to have to change schools," when asked whether boundary changes would require students to move schools.
