District staff presented proposed revisions to board policy and administrative regulation covering the uniform complaint procedures and separate updates covering nondiscrimination, employment discrimination, harassment and Title IX compliance.
Miss Veil told the board these policy updates were undergoing review to ensure compliance with federal regulations and the education code and that the items would be brought back to the board as action items at the next meeting. "This board policy and administrative regulation are specific to our uniform complaint procedures, and they're being brought forth for review with proposed changes and updates, to ensure compliance with federal regulations and education code," Miss Veil said.
She confirmed that both sets of updated policies and regulations will return on the next agenda for board action.
Why it matters: Uniform complaint procedures and nondiscrimination/Title IX rules frame how the district handles complaints, employment protections and student civil-rights matters. The board’s review of updated language is a required step before formal adoption.
No vote was taken on March 25; staff characterized the items as informational and noted that updated documents are available in the board packet and will be posted for community review prior to the next meeting.
