House committee advances timeshare sales-agent licensing bill to House floor

Chair Rep. Sosa opened a work session March 25 on House Bill 2,373, which would create a timeshare sales agent license administered by the Oregon Real Estate Agency and set application, fingerprinting and supervision requirements for agents. The bill sets an operative date of Jan. 1, 2026, and an effective date of July 1, 2025.
Committee staff summarized that the bill would require a license to offer or sell timeshares, limit a licensed timeshare sales agent to working under one supervising principal real estate broker, and allow the agency to establish grounds for discipline. Committee staff also noted a minimal fiscal impact and no revenue impact.
Vice Chair Taichie moved to adopt the dash-3 amendment; the committee had no objections and the amendment was adopted. Taichie then moved the bill as amended to the House floor with a “do pass” recommendation and asked that referral to the Joint Committee on Ways and Means be rescinded. The committee took a roll-call vote; the motion passed. Representative Bossard Davis was named as the floor carrier.
