Community development report: Old Mormon Fort to state board; West High sent to Keeper; Floyd Lamb report ongoing

Community development staff gave a brief project update at the April 1 Historic Preservation Commission meeting, listing several items in progress.
Staff reported that the Cliff May Home survey remains under review and should be complete by the first week of April. The Old Mormon Fort nomination will be considered at the state review board’s June 5 meeting. The West High School National Register nomination was submitted to the Keeper of the National Register and staff cautioned that the Keeper’s review typically takes at least 45 days.
The Floyd Lamb Park historical report is in progress. Staff also reported that Huntridge neighborhood signs have been completed and installed, and that a plaque ceremony for a Huntridge house at 1433 Cottonwood Place was held with Councilwoman LaVilla Diaz and Chairman Stottle in attendance.
Staff reminded commissioners of several calendar items: HPC awards voting is due by April 16; the Pass Forward 2025 conference will be Sept. in Milwaukee and the commission must provide names to staff by May 8 to request funding; because the regular April meeting room is unavailable, the commission’s April meeting is moved to April 30 at noon.
No formal action was taken on the project-update list; staff accepted questions and noted next steps for each item.
