City schedules Riverview Park plan viewing; boat-ramp dredging and shoreline permit work underway

Proxmire Creation will host a public viewing of concept plans for Riverview Park on April 9 at 5 p.m. in Council Chambers, city staff said during the March 24 meeting.
The session is a chance for residents to see the draft Riverview Park master plan ahead of a city council meeting, staff member Blankenship said. "We will have a public viewing of the concept plans that you saw at the last meeting on April 9 at 5PM, and then that's right before the council meeting," Blankenship said.
Why it matters: the master plan guides park improvements and can shape future capital spending and permitting needs along the waterfront.
City staff also reported progress on several waterfront projects. Design work is under way for dredging at the Main Street Boat Ramp, Blankenship said. At the working waterfront, staff completed replacement of a fire-suppression dry line; the project was paid for with a fine-based grant and is complete, and the city will open bids "this coming Friday" for a law-enforcement dry line, Blankenship said.
Separately, staff said shoreline-stabilization plans have been submitted to St. Johns for permitting and that the city has held meetings with the agency. "We've had a couple of meetings with them," Blankenship said about the permitting process, and staff does not expect an extended delay now that St. Johns has already reviewed the plans.
No formal decisions or funding allocations were made during the March 24 discussion; staff announced the public viewing, permitting status, and upcoming bid opening for the law-enforcement dry line. The city did not provide a date for permit approval or details about bid timelines beyond the upcoming Friday deadline for opening bids.
Looking ahead: the city plans to advertise the April 9 Riverview Park public viewing and will proceed with the bid opening for the dry line as scheduled.
