Votes at a glance: commission approves meeting minutes and two consultant funding requests

The Las Vegas Historic Preservation Commission on April 1 approved three items during its meeting: the minutes of the Feb. 26, 2025 meeting and two funding requests for additional consultant work on National Register nominations and historical reports.

Commissioner Cosgrove moved to approve the Feb. 26 final minutes. Commissioner Moody stated before the vote that he would abstain because he had not attended the prior meeting; the motion carried.

The commission then voted to approve a $950 payment to Couts Environmental Consultants Inc. to complete final edits to an updated National Register nomination for the Old Mormon Fort at 500 West Washington Avenue (Ward 5). Staff said the extra funding would cover additional hours and research requested at the last meeting; the motion passed.

The commission also approved $9,500 to Couts Environmental Consultants Inc. for additional project research and writing for the historical report of Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, 9200 Tule Springs Road (Ward 6). Staff said the consultant had located additional documents and that the extra work would extend the project timeline by several months; Commissioner Moody moved to approve item 9 and the commission carried the motion. Commissioner Michelle Laramie, who joined the meeting after the vote was taken, later stated she approved that action.

Meeting votes were recorded as “motion carries” in the minutes; specific roll-call tallies were not read into the public record for the two consultant funding items at the time the votes were announced.
