Website consultant to publish grant summaries and timeline; commission notes missing minutes before 2012

Jeffrey Carlson, website content-development consultant, told the commission he is completing grant summaries and will begin a Las Vegas historical timeline for the commission website. Carlson said he compared the website master list to proposals, agreements and meeting minutes (which he said extend back to 2012 in the archives he reviewed) and found omissions and discrepancies that he is correcting.
Carlson said most grant summaries will be presented as PDFs with a project overview, historical context and links when available, and that some projects with extensive documentation may be summarized by grantee rather than in a single document. He told commissioners he is prepared to submit the grant summaries this week and will provide guidelines for timeline inclusion when he presents a first draft.
Commissioners noted that the Centennial grants program began distributing awards around 2005 and that minutes and records prior to 2012 are not comprehensively archived on the public site. Commissioner Louise Helton and others urged staff to search for older minutes, and multiple commissioners volunteered to check personal records for early documentation such as photographs, budgets and minutes. Carlson said he has identified a list of pre-2012 grants that appear to be missing full proposals and agreements and will work with staff to fill those gaps.
The presentation was informational and included discussion about archival recovery and next steps for the website.
